The 32nd running of the GIII $150,000 Iroquois Stakes, for two-year-old colts, and the 44th running of the GII $150,000 Pocahontas Stakes, for two-year-old fillies, kicks off the 2014 Road to The 140th Kentucky Derby on Saturday, September 7th at Churchill Downs. Can you believe we’re already heading down the Derby Trail? The Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks will take place Saturday, May 3, 2014! Lady and The Track is picking two lucky winners to mark the start of the Derby prep schedule.

Not only do the Pocahontas Stakes and the Iroquois Stakes mark the beginning of the much-anticipated Derby Trail, both races are Breeder’s Cup “Win And You’re In” challenge aces. The winners of the Pocahontas Stakes and the Iroquois Stakes will earn automatic berth into the 2013 Breeders’ Cup.

To celebrate the beginning of the 2014 Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks prep season and the Road to The Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks, Lady and The Track is giving away loot! Two lucky winners will receive a Lady and The Track tee shirt (winner’s choice of men’s or women’s style) paired with a red or yellow gorgeous Belle de Benoir fascinator supplied by Fashion at the Races.com.

Step 2: Find the “Kentucky Derby 2014 Kickoff Contest” photo (shown to the right).
Step 3: Share and comment on the picture. Leave a comment on anything that celebrates the Kentucky Derby or Kentucky Oaks. Example: mint julep recipes, favorite hat designers, all-time favorite horses, up and coming two-year-old info, infield stories, memories and favorite track stories, etc.
