Longshot Oxbow won the Preakness Stakes today, Saturday May 18, 2013, at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. In a nine horse field Oxbow crossed the finish line first with Joel Rosario on the mount with 15/1 odds.

Trainer D. Wayne Lukas entered three horses in the 138th Running of The Preakness Stakes including Oxbow, Will Take Charge, and Titletown Five. Oxbow made his way to the front of the pack early on in the race and was able to go the distance! Itsmyluckyday fought hard for his second place finish with Jockey John Velazquez beating out Mylute and Rosie Napravnik. Favorite Kentucky Derby winner Orb finished in fourth place.

True to traditions, the Pimlico Preakness infield was full of action and excitement! A controversial bikini contest and a concert from Florida Georgia Line got the infield primed and pumped for the 2013 Preakness Stakes. Pitbull and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performed in the infield. The Goo Goo Dolls wowed the crowd on Black-Eyed Susan day on Preakness Eve.

What’s next? The third jewel of the Triple Crown is the Belmont Stakes on Saturday June 8, 2013 in Elmont, New York at Belmont Park.
