Untapable and Rosie Napravnik win Louisiana Oaks: Untapable took home the win at the 2014 Fair Ground Oaks at Fair Grounds on Saturday, March 30, 2014. The 1-2 favorite won the grade 2 race with a large 7 ¾ length margin. Untapable was ridden by jockey Rosie Napravnik for the big win and is trained by Steve Assmusen.

Fiftyshadesofgold made a good attempt and had a good lead over Untapable for a while in the 2014 Louisiana Oaks, but Untapable easily took over and took the lead.

Jockey Napravnkik said, “Steve Assmusen’s only instructions were to keep it smooth, so I let her go easily, and she relaxed for me, and I just got her used to being asked to go at the top of the stretch. Very excited about her…She just has ability. She has grown up a lot, and she has great composure…and she’s fast.”

Asmussen remarked. “I like how she was handled by Rosie, how she relaxed, and she ran big, especially off such a fast effort in the Rachel Alexandra.”

Fiftyshadesofgold came in second and Unbridled Forever came in third rounding out the top three horses.

Unbridled was a favorite going into the race but jockey Robby Albarado said, “We had a great trip. I pressed her onto even terms with Untapable, but that one is just a great filly. She wowed everyone last time and echoed it again today.”

This win earns Untapable 100 points towards the 2014 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill downs, where she actually began her career. This race seemed to be a smooth and easy win for Untapable so we will have to wait and see what Churchill downs will be like.
