Belmont Stakes 2014; Commanding Curve Runs His Own Parade

Belmont Stakes 2014; Commanding Curve Runs His Own Parade: As Commanding Curve prepares for the 146th Running of the Belmont Stakes, by lying down and taking long naps, the three-year-old colt peaks interest amongst the fans and experts as one of the biggest threats to California Chrome’s potential Triple Crown victory.

Founder and President of West Point Thoroughbreds, Terry Finley, told us in an email interview that Commanding Curve has a great shot at winning the Belmont Stakes that takes place on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Belmont Park.

Commanding Curve finished second to California Chrome in the 2014 Kentucky Derby and despite the possibility of upsetting a Triple Crown win Terry Finley feels confident his West Point Thoroughbred horse has what it takes to win and will personally be there to root the colt on saying, “We will be at the Belmont Stakes to cheer on Commanding Curve with bells and whistles. We think we are going to win the Belmont – we don’t want to rain on any parades – just want to run our own parade.”

Finley added, “I’m very exciting about Commanding Curve having the opportunity to participate in two Triple Crown races. It makes me realize these types of horses are so, so hard to come by. It also helps get people excited about our great sport.”

A West Point Thoroughbred partner named Commanding Curve. Terry Finley explained, “One of the partners in Dallas is a lifelong baseball fan. He loved this colt and combined his love of baseball with the sire, Master Command.”

Commanding Curve’s favorite treats are of course peppermints. Terry Finley shared that Commanding Curve has funny sleeping habits saying, “He sleeps laying down almost every single day. He sleeps standing up some days. Commanding Curve even sleeps in his stall before lunch meal which is quite good for their energy levels.”

Before crossing the Kentucky Derby finish line second on May 3rd, Commanding Curve finished 3rd in the Louisiana Derby and 6th in the Risen Star Stakes. The Dallas Stewart trained three-year-old colt has raced a total of seven times throughout his career and has earned $542,434.

The 146th Running of the Belmont Stakes post position draw on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 will determine where Commanding Curve will break in the final jewel of the Triple Crown. The post position draw will stream live at 11:30 am ET at BelmontStakes.com/livestream. The 2014 Belmont Stakes has an approximate post time of 6:52 PM ET.

Lady and The Track would like to wish trainer Dallas Stewart, jockey Shaun Bridgmohan, West Point Thoroughbreds, Terry Finley, and the sleepy but amazing Commanding Curve the best of luck in the 2014 Belmont Stakes.
