Fans Root for Itsmyluckyday in 2014 Whitney at Saratoga: Ever since Itsmyluckyday wowed the Gulfstream Park crowd in the Gulfstream Park Stakes and the G3 Holy Bull Stakes in 2013, the colt quickly became a favorite with fans who followed him down the 2013 Derby Trail. Sadly, the Eddie Plesa, Jr. trained Itsmyluckyday finished out the year on the sidelines recovering from a pelvic injury. But now, after healing and returning to the racetrack, Itsmyluckyday finds himself at Saratoga for the 87th running of the $1.5 million Whitney, a Breeders’ Cup Classic Win and You’re In Challenge Race, amongst some of the fastest stars in the Sport of Kings!

Itsmyluckyday is co-owned by Trilogy Stable and Laurie Plesa. Laurie told Lady and The Track that the trip to New York to compete in the Whitney is thrilling for Itsmyluckyday’s connections and fans alike saying, “We are so excited for Itsmyluckyday to being running at Saratoga. So many people have followed him. There is a woman at Monmouth Park who came almost every day during his recovery to see him and bring him carrots, so we have a lot of fans that will be rooting for him.”

Laurie Plesa, who in 2013 put her Kentucky Derby hat in the trailer with Itsmyluckyday as he made his way to Churchill Downs, will personally be at Saratoga (hatless) to cheer for her four-year-old colt saying, “I will not be wearing a hat, I’ll save that for a future Kentucky Derby. I am hoping the weather holds out on Saturday.”

Laurie Plesa is optimistic about Itsmyluckyday’s Whitney chances saying, “The race will be tough but we are hoping he gets to run his race.”

Most recently Itsmyluckyday finished first in the G3 Salvator Mile Stakes at Monmouth Park on July 6, 2014. Before that he finished first in the Majestic Lights Stakes and the Best of The Rest Stakes signaling to us that Itsmyluckyday knows what is expected of him since his recovery and return to the track.

Itsmyluckyday will break from post position #4 with jockey Paco Lopez with 12-1 morning line odds in the 2014 Whitney. Will Take Charge, Prayer for Relief, Moreno, Palace Malice, Departing, Romansh, Golden Ticket, and Last Gunfighter will join Itsmyluckyday in the Saratoga starting gate.

The G1 1 1/8 mile Whitney Handicap is the 10th race of the day at Saratoga on Saturday, August 2, 2014 with an approximate post time of 5:46 PM ET.
