2014 Cigar Mile & Remsen Stakes at Aqueduct

2014 Cigar Mile & Remsen Stakes at Aqueduct: The 2014 Cigar Mile and Remsen Stakes take place at Aqueduct Race Track on Saturday, November 29, 2014. The Remsen Stakes is a Grade II race at 1 1/8 miles for 2-year-old colts on a dirt track. It carries a $400,000 purse and will award it’s winner with ten points on the 2015 Kentucky Derby Trail. The $500,000 GI Cigar Mile Handicap is a mile race for three-year-olds and up and headlines “Cigar Mile Day” at Aqueduct.

What to do on Cigar Mile Day 2014…

Besides the 2014 Cigar Mile and Remsen Stakes, Aqueduct will also be hosting a live money handicapping contest on Cigar Mile Day. This Cigar Mile Day will be the last day to watch Grade 1 racing in New York and so it will be the last day for handicappers to try to qualify for the National Handicapping Championship at the NYRA track. The contest carries a $300 buy in. The non-refundable registration starts on Wednesday November 26th.

If handicapping isn’t your thing then Aqueduct still offers plenty to do including upscale dining at The Equestris Restaurant. It is on the third floor of the Aqueduct Clubhouse and gives a great view of the finish line as well as flat screens to watch the races live. There is a buffet open on Saturday for $29.95 per person. Reservations are suggested and children are welcome. There are also other low key options like the Silks Sports Bar, Winner’s Circle Coffee Shop or the Triple Crown Café.
