Santa Anita Park Eddie Logan Stakes 2014; Rising Star Bolo

Santa Anita Park Eddie Logan Stakes 2014; Rising Star Bolo: The Eddie Logan Stakes to be contested on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Santa Anita Park over a mile on the turf is a non-graded stakes race. The Eddie Logan Stakes draws horses with the potential to fight in graded stakes during their 2015 campaign. However, there is one horse who looks like a rising star in the 2014 Eddie Logan, a diamond in the rough, his name is Bolo. With just one win in two starts, Bolo has a great quality about him.

Bolo is a son of Temple City, a freshman sire who has produced two stakes winners this year; Startup Nation and Saratoga Heather. In fact, Temple City appears 6th in the first crop sire ranking in earnings. Bolo could be the third stakes winner for Temple City this Saturday at Santa Anita Park if he runs the way he works.

Bolo was going to make his debut on October 29, 2014. He was playing as the heavy favorite but Bolo threw his rider Mike Smith and ran off pre-post. Finally, Bolo made his debut on November 7, 2014 over a mile on the turf at Del Mar finishing fifth, seeing clearly that he needed the race. In his next start on November 29, 2014, Bolo broke his maiden categorically, implying that he has a great future ahead of him.

This time, Bolo will face tougher horses in the 2014 Eddie Logan Stakes like Daddy D T, a Scat Daddy baby, who was third in the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile G1. Bolo will also face the graded stakes placed horses Stormy Liberal and Rock Shandy, and Red Button, and also a horse who was second in the Zuma Beach Stakes, Listed.

Bolo is moving up in class and now is facing more experienced horses. With what the horse has shown so far, he has demonstrated the potential to win and prove himself in graded stakes races on the turf. Bolo will be ridden by Mike Smith again, and despite the awkward outside post, Bolo has a great shot because he is a horse that doesn’t need the lead so he can run more relaxed in the early stages.
