A Derby Hat Countdown; 101 Derby Hats by MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS, Second Annual Countdown Launched: MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS® , a custom millinery located on Cape Cod in Massachusetts, has launched its second annual Derby hat countdown to celebrate the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby.

To mark the 101 days leading up to Derby Day, couture Derby hat milliner, Sally Faith Steinmann of MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS® will be showcasing one selected hat each day from her Derby Hat Collection in “A Derby Hat Countdown: 101 Derby Hats by MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS®”. Each featured hat has a brief introduction and a link to its own webpage where it can be viewed from all angles and one can read about what inspired its creation and the materials that were used to fashion it.

This year, the MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS® road to the Derby began with the stunning wide brim Derby chapeau, the “Hanalee”.
This gorgeous silk Derby hat was inspired by a MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS® customer named Sally Hamlin, a dedicated horsewoman from Washington, D.C., who was looking for something stylish yet comfortable for her Kentucky Derby adventure. The result of their Derby hat collaboration was an amazing style that incorporates sumptuous black dupioni silk, silver silk organza, wispy tulle and coral shantung; very stylish yet comfortable for a day at the races.
