Fair Grounds Celebrates Rosie Napravnik with Rosie Day: The 2015 editions of the Rachel Alexandra Stakes and Risen Star Stakes will take place on Saturday February 21, 2015, at Fair Grounds Race Course in Louisiana. The Rachel Alexandra is part of the road to the 2015 Kentucky Oaks, and the Risen Star is on the trail to the 2015 Kentucky Derby. Aside from a fun day of racing, Fair Grounds will also be featuring the Lamarque Ford sponsored Louisiana Derby Preview Day, a special celebration of four-time leading rider Rosie Napravnik.

What to do at Fair Grounds…

The entire day will be celebrated as “Rosie Day.” Napravnik had won four consecutive leading rider titles at Fair Grounds before retiring in October of 2014. The celebration commemorates Napravnik’s accomplishments of capturing three editions of both the Grade III Mineshaft Handicap and Grade III Rachel Alexandra Stakes as well as two subsequent Grade I Kentucky Oaks victories upon Untapable and Believe You Can. Up to 500 fans will be able to purchase a commemorative photo for $10 that can be personalized and autographed by Napravnik while supplies last from 12:30 until 2:00 in the afternoon. All proceeds from the sales of the photographs will benefit Napravnik’s favorite charities.
