After the race is the perfect time to enjoy one of Churchill’s newest traditions, Downs After Dark. Downs After Dark occurs on Saturday nights at Churchill Downs and features live entertainment. An especially exciting part of Downs After Dark on June 13 will be an appearance by the new Triple Crown winner, American Pharoah. This newest champion of racing will be at Downs After Dark celebrating his big win and will be parading around the paddock.

Also featured at Downs After Dark will be cocktails and live music. Live entertainment by The Pass will begin at 7:50 in the Plaza, and in the new Courtyard there will be an exclusive 21 and older area on the homestretch of the racetrack. Tickets to the Courtyard are $69 and include draft beer and wine from 7:00 until 11:00 as well as small-plate style food and a racing program.

There will also be a Bet or No Bet challenge presented by Thorntons where one fan will have the chance to place a $4000 win wager on the horse of their choice in an effort to win a $100 Thorntons gift card. Handicappers can also enter The Churchill Downs Challenge, a live money handicapping contest, in order to win paid entry into the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge or cash prizes. General Admission is $10, and reserved seating starts at $25.

With summer in full swing, it is time to break out all of your most fashionable white clothing for Downs After Dark and the 2015 Stephen Foster Handicap. In fact, on Stephen Foster Night at Downs After Dark, there will be a white party where all guests are asked to come in white. In order to stand out in a sea of white, make sure to pick white clothing items with texture. For instance, try eyelet or lace, or you can even try to mix up your whites. Traditionally, mixing and matching different shades of white was a no-no, but in these modern times, mixing shades of white and crème and ivory can look luxe and chic. Another way to instantly stand out is to wear a white suit, but since it is summertime, wear a white blazer with matching white shorts. Pair your white looks with metallic for a rich feel. Try silvers, golds, and white golds with jewelry and shoes, and make sure to keep your makeup bright so you don’t look washed out in all white. Try a bold red, pink, or orange lip or a great teal eyeliner; just don’t do both at once!

You’ll stand out in your all-white look even in the dark at this year’s Stephen Foster Handicap.
