Verrazano to Shuttle to Chile

Verrazano to Shuttle to Chile: The multiple Graded Stakes winner Verrazano, who is standing at Coolmore America’s Ashford Stud in Versailles, Kentucky, will shuttle to Haras Paso Nevado in Chile for the Southern Hemisphere season l this year.

Verrazano, by More Than Ready, out of the Giant’s Causeway mare Enchanted Rock, won the GI Wood Memorial in 2013. Unbeaten Verrazano participated in the 2013 Kentucky Derby but sadly finished on fourteenth place. After that race, the horse returned with a couple of Graded Stakes impressive victories including the Haskell Invitational GI (watch replay), setting a new track record.

The news was released by Haras Paso Nevado via social media on their twitter account (@Haraspasonevado) tweeting, “Presentamos a Verrazano, nuestro próximo padrillo para las tres temporadas que vienen, campaña, físico y pedigree”, which translated to english means “We introduce Verrazano, our next stallion for the next three seasons, career, physical and pedigree”

Verrazano a ½ sibling to Kentucky Derby participant El Padrino and La Madrina who proved himself on the turf when he was sent to England to run in a few stakes races. In Europe, the horse was second in the Queen Anne Stakes GI and third in the Lockinge Stakes GI. Both races over one mile.

Recently, Chile has succeeded in shuttling horses for the Northern Hemisphere, especially with Scat Daddy, a leading sire and multiple grade stakes producer, highlighting the champions Il Campione, Solaria, and the Grade stakes winner in U.S, Dacita.

The inclusion of Verrazano to Chilean breeding is a great input and a good opportunity to improve Chilean horse racing with such a versatile horse. Verrazano can run in dirt and grass and also adds the speed that the Chilean hoses usually lacks.

Lady and The Track reached out to Ashford Stud for additional information and confirmation on Verrazano’s travel dates. Reports will be updated upon release.
