Kentucky Derby Schedule 2016: Post Times & Positions– The 142nd Running of the Kentucky Derby takes place on Saturday, May 7, 2016. The first race kicks off at 10:30 a.m. and the last race of the day is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. The Kentucky Derby is the twelfth race of the day with a 6:34 p.m. post time. NBC Sports Network will cover the races at Churchill Downs from 12:00-4:00 p.m. Main coverage for the 2016 Kentucky Derby airs on NBC from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

In addition to fourteen races on Kentucky Derby Day, excitement surrounds Churchill Downs both on and off the track. Celebrities will walk the red carpet from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Lady Antebellum hits the stage at approximately 5:05 p.m. and the traditional singing of “My Old Kentucky Home” is scheduled immediately before the 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby.
