2019 Eclipse Awards Finalists Announced


Turf Star, Sprinter and Sophomore Are Horse of the Year Contenders

The finalists for the 2019 Eclipse Awards – 12 equine and five human divisions – were announced on Saturday and highlighted by Horse of the Year finalists Bricks and Mortar, Mitole and Maximum Security. Each of the Horse of the Year finalists are also leading candidates in their respective divisions — turf, sprint and 3-year-old respectively, with each expecting to take home the trophy in those categories.

The horse who received the most first-place votes will be awarded Horse of the Year. The Eclipse Awards selections are made by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA), Daily Racing Form and the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters Association.

Following are the three finalists in each category The Eclipse Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, January 23 at Gulfstream Park.
