Wood Memorial 2013 Post Positions & Odds

The 2013 Wood Memorial takes place this Saturday April 6th at Aqueduct Racetrack in New York. Aqueduct will host a field of ten three-year-old colts on a 1 1/8 mile dirt track. Verrazano, with 4/5 odds, is a favorite for the 2013 Wood Memorial.

The 2013 Wood Memorial is part of the Kentucky Derby Championship Series. In addition to the $1 million purse, the first place winner will receive 100 points towards their entry into the 2013 Kentucky Derby. Tampa Bay Derby winner Verrazano is currently in the lead on the Kentucky Derby Leaderboard with fifty points. Elnaawi has ten, Normandy Invasion currently has four points, Always in a Tis has two points, and Quinzieme Monarque only has one point.

Experts predict Verrazano, Vjack, and Normandy Invasion are the favored horses to play on Saturday. I’m no expert, but I really like Always in a Tiz. First of all, Calvin Borel is on the mount! He’s a strong looking horse and I think he’ll do well with three-time Kentucky Derby winner Calvin Borel onboard. My long shot bet is Quinzieme Monarque. I’ve watched Quinzieme Monarque at Gulfstream Park and feel good about him. I definitely agree with the experts about Verrazano. He is crazy fast and will probably finish in the top two.
