Java’s War

Java’s War galloped around the Churchill Downs track today in preparation for the 2013 Kentucky Derby set to take place on Saturday May 4th. The three-year-old colt is expected to have a workout with stable mate Frac Daddy on Saturday.

Java’s War placed 1st in the 2013 Bluegrass Stakes, 2nd in the Tampa Bay Derby, and 2nd in the Dixiana Breeders’ Futurity. Experts predict that Java’s War has the stamina and speed to be a strong contender in the 2013 Kentucky Derby but worry he may prefer turf over dirt.

Geologist Charles Fipke who discovered one of the largest diamond mines in Canada owns Java’s War. Jockey Julien Leparoux will take the mount aboard Java’s War for the 2013 Kentucky Derby. Kenny McPeek, who also trains Frac Daddy and Kentucky Oaks contender Pure Fun, trains Java’s War.

Lady and The Track sat down with Kenny McPeek and found out Java’s War is extremely intelligent and is one laid back horse!
