Kentucky Derby 2013 Verrazano

Verrazano is all set to make his run for the roses in the Kentucky Derby on May 4, 2013. Verrazano enters the Kentucky Derby with 150 Leaderboard points.

What makes Verrazano so special is that he has never raced as a two-year-old. The beautiful brown colt started his racing career after he turned three-years-old. Verrazano entered four races total placing first in every single one. He is the only 2013 Kentucky Derby contender that hasn’t raced as a two-year-old. It’s been 131 years since a horse with only three-year-old experience has won the Kentucky Derby.

Experts say Verrazano may not like the distance of the 1 ¼ mile Kentucky Derby but he has exceptional qualities that make him a strong contender.

Verazzano has been described as a bright confident horse that hold his head high and proud!

Todd Pletcher stated, “Verrazano has a dominating presence. Sometimes good horses just know they are good horses and you get the sense that he knows that.”

Verrazano is owned by Let’s Go Stable (Kevin Scatuorchio & Bryan Sullivan), Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor & Derrick Smith and is trained by Todd Pletcher. Superstar jockey John Velazquez will lead Verrazano across the finish line on Saturday.
