Breeders’ Cup Classic 2012 Contender List

The 29^th running of the Breeders’ Cup Classic is set to take place on Friday November 2, 2012 and Saturday November 3, 2012. The 2012 Breeders’ Cup Classic is the richest race in the United States with a $5 million purse.

The Breeders’ Cup Classic is a worldwide horse racing event that takes place at Santa Anita Park in Los Angeles, California. Only the top 14 thoroughbreds get a shot at this prestigious horse race. Six out of the fourteen starters will gain automatic entry into the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Classic by qualifying through the Breeders’ Cup Challenge series. The Breeders’ Cup Challenge is a 1 ¼ mile race on dirt. Contenders for the race must be three-years-old or older.

The two day horse racing event at Santa Anita includes several other races in addition to the world watched Breeders’ Cup Challenge. The race schedule begins on Friday November 2^nd with a $500,000 Juvenile Sprint and ends with the $2 million Ladies’ Classic.
