Orb, winner of the 2013 Kentucky Derby, teams up with Joel Rosario once again for the Belmont Stakes.

Orb, winner of the 2013 Kentucky Derby, teams up with Joel Rosario once again for the Belmont Stakes.

The 145th running of the Belmont Stakes takes place Saturday June 8, 2013 at the historic Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. Thirteen three-year-old thoroughbred colts and one filly will take to the 1 ½ mile dirt track in pursuit of the third and final jewel of the Triple Crown. Official Post Positions and Odds were released today for the 2013 Belmont Stakes.

There are several interesting aspects to the 2013 Belmont Stakes. One notable mention is the fact that Kentucky Derby winner Orb and Preakness winner Oxbow will be facing off again for a Triple Crown jewel rematch. Orb and Freedom Child are sons of Malibu Moon, which is creating some Belmont buzz. Another interesting entry is the Todd Pletcher trained Unlimited Budget. The lone filly in the field will go up against thirteen male rivals with female jockey Rosie Napravnik on the mount. Todd Pletcher won the Belmont Stakes six years ago with Rags to Riches. Is Unlimited Budget tough enough to compete with Orb and Oxbow? We’ll all find out on Saturday!
