Look Like A Million Bucks at The Arlington Million

2013 Arlington Million

A mint green peplum dress paired with a pink hat or fascinator is the perfect outfit for the 2013 Arlington Million.

Look Like A Million Bucks at The Arlington Million:  At this year’s 31st running of the Arlington Million, take your cue from Princess Kate and get inspired with classic but fresh looks and fun fascinators. Choose a race day look that stands out, but looks effortless at the same time for the 2013 Arlington Million at Arlington Park.

The three outfits I love for the 2013 Arlington Million are The Classic Sheath Dress, The Full Skirt, and The Tuxedo! Be sure to click the links below to easily shop for all of these great looks.

1. The Classic Sheath Dress: This dress is form fitting and flatters most body types. If you a have straight boy like figure, try to find a dress with a peplum which is on trend and will help give you an hourglass shape, or if you have a fuller figure then try one with lots of structure and some color blocking to stream line your look and give a slimming effect.

The style of the color-block dress (shown below) is already classic and grown up; so instead of basic black, try a chic black and white combo or a fun color or great print to add a little fun to your look. Both of the dresses pictured would look amazing with a hot pink fascinator to add a little flair and flintiness to your look.

2. The Full Skirt: This look can be every bit as dressed up and sophisticated as a dress, but it is fresh and new compared to traditional race day wear. It is also a top trend for Fall 2013, so stay ahead of the fashion crowd by trying out this look. Look for a simple top that tucks into the skirt, which will not only showcase your skirt and hat, but will keep you looking slim by cinching in your waist.

Arlington Million Fashion

The full skirt in “scuba” is a brilliant trend that’s sure to turn heads at the 2013 Arlington Million.

Pair the full skirt with a pointy toe pump to add to the sophistication of the look and help elongate your legs since most of your legs will be covered by the skirt, but avoid a heel with an ankle strap so that you don’t cut your leg off.

Try a bold lip color like hot pink or a matte red to counteract the girlishness of the look and make it a little more grown up. Take a look at Cover Girl Lip Liner and Lip Perfection Lipstick in Hot Passion or Spellbound for inspiration.

Both of the skirts (shown below) would look great in white with a white top and this great cobalt blue fascinator for a bold and clean look.

3. The Tuxedo: This look is for the brave woman who wants to stand out and go with the unpredictable. This is another look that can fit all body types and can be very slimming. Since it’s day time stay away from the classic black suit; try a crisp white to make a statement or a bright color.

Make sure to let your hair be feminine to counteract the edginess of the suit, try loose waves or a side braid.

Try a bright color fascinator to liven up a serious look or try one that keeps the menswear inspired look going and looks like a little top hat or fedora.

Hair Help: There is a chance of rain on race day so try an anti-humidity product (Garnier Fructis Style & Sleek Anti-Humidity Hairspray) and a smoothing serum (Kerastase Nutritive Oleo-Relax Serum or John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum) to keep those locks looking smooth and staying in place. Also, on rainy days it’s best to go with your hair’s natural texture, so if you are naturally curly, the keep it curly rather than trying to straighten it, and vice versa.

Makeup Tip: To avoid stickiness and looking greasy on a day that is hot and could be humid and rainy, make sure to wear a primer such as Too Faced Primed and Poreless Skin Soothing Face Primer, Smashbox Oil-Free Primer, or  Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion under your makeup to keep makeup in place and keep from looking oily, and remember waterproof mascara (DiorShow Waterproof Mascara) to avoid raccoon eyes.
