On Tuesday morning, November 12, Delta Downs’ racing office received fourteen pre-entries to the GIII $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot that is set to take place on Saturday, November 23, 2013. In addition to the Delta Downs Jackpot for two-year-olds on the 2014 Kentucky Derby Trail, Delta Downs Racetrack Casino will feature eight stakes races including the Delta Downs Princess for two-year-old fillies on the road to the 2014 Kentucky Oaks. “Jackpot Day” begins at 1:15 PM CST in Vinton, Louisiana.

Pre-entries for the 11th running of the 2013 Delta Downs Jackpot include top trainers from across the nation including Doug O’Neill, who won the 2012 Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes with Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile Champion Goldencents. This year, Doug O’Neill enters Reddam Racing’s two-year-old Rum Point, who is a Malibu Moon colt. Rum Point most recently finished 12th in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita Park on November 2nd.

The 1 1/16 mile Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes and the 1 mile Delta Downs Princess will award the first place winners ten points on the 2014 Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks Leaderboard. The second place winner will receive four points, third place will receive two points, and the fourth place finisher will receive one point towards their Derby & Oaks pursuit.
