In Tune wins the 2014 Gulfstream Park Oaks

In Tune wins the 2014 Gulfstream Park Oaks: The 2014 Gulfstream Park Oaks is part of the road to the 2014 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs. The 1 1/8 mile race was won by In Tune on Saturday, March 29, 2014. In Tune is trained by Todd Pletcher, who has had a great racing weekend, and ridden by jockey Javier Castellano.

In Tune’s Gulfstream Oaks win marks the fourth victory in the Gulfstream Park Oaks in the last five years for trainer Pletcher. In Tune also took home a $300,000 purse. In Tune broke from the gate strong and stayed behind Whomping Willow in second place for a while, House Rules tried to engage In Tune, but In Tune responded and was not defeated.

Pletcher said, “She showed a lot of courage down the lane…We anticipated that there would be some other speed in there, so we felt like with our post position that we could sit off of it if we needed to. It pretty much unfolded like we thought. There’s a very strong headwind coming down the lane, but the track is playing fairly.”

Trainer Pletcher also said of In Tune, “It’s rare that you have one come along this quickly, a short maiden to a long ‘a other than’ to a graded stakes. She stepped up in class and distance each time and passed every test, so I’m very proud of her.”

Jockey Castellano was also pleased with In Tune today stating, “She’s an amazing filly. She was really fighting. When she saw that other filly coming, she took off gain. She’s undefeated. I give all the credit to the filly. She was stretching out (at 1 1/8 miles) today, and she was wonderful.”

This is a great victory for In Tune it sets a good tone for the upcoming Kentucky Oaks!
