Kentucky Oaks 2014; Untapable

Kentucky Oaks 2014; Untapable: Untapable will be competing in this year’s Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday, May 2, 2014. Untapable is trained by Steve Asmussen, who has trained over 6000 winners and has even won the Eclipse Award as the nation’s top trainer. Untapable is owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds and also bred by Winchell Thoroughbreds. The Winchell family won the 2005 Kentucky Oaks with race horse Summerly and surely are hoping that Untapable will help them win again in the 2014 Kentucky Oaks.

Untapable Kentucky Oaks 2014

Untapable, pictured above with Rosie Napravnik at Fair Grounds, dominates the 2014 Kentucky Oaks leader board with 160 points. The filly is a strong contender in the 2014 Kentucky Oaks on Friday, May 2, 2014 for trainer Steve Asmussen and owners/breeders Winchell Thoroughbreds at Churchill Downs.

Untapable comes from Grade 1 stallion Tapit and Grade 2 dam, the prized mare Fun House. Jockey Rosie Napravnik has ridden Untapable in all four of the filly’s victories and is scheduled to ride Untapable again in the Kentucky Oaks. Untapable is a multiple graded stakes winner while Rosie was the first female Kentucky Oaks winner on Believe You Can in 2012. Untapable has not run on turf yet however, Untapable has solidified her place as a major contender for the 2014 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs after a major victory in the grade 3 Rachel Alexandra Stakes at Fair Grounds Race Course, which ran 1 1/16 miles. Untapable posted a time of 1:43.64 over that fast track and took a major win by 9 ½ lengths. Untapable also took home the win on March 29th of this year at the grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks. The race was 1 1/16 miles.

Untapable was also named Horse of the Meeting for the 142nd season at Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots. People will be eager to see how Untapable does at Churchill Downs, but Untapable has had a win at Churchill Downs, in last year’s Pocahontas (Pocahontas Stakes recap/replay) in September. So far, Untapable remains unbeaten in two races at Churchill Downs. Hopefully, Untapable will be able to repeat a Churchill Downs win in this year’s Oaks and become undefeated in three races at Churchill Downs.

Why we’d bet on Untapable in the 2014 Kentucky Oaks?
Untapable tops the Kentucky Oaks leader board with a whopping 160 points. We also like that jockey Rosie Napravnik has ridden this filly to victory four times. If Rosie and Untapable team up again for the 2014 Kentucky Oaks, Untapable may be unstoppable.
Why we wouldn’t?
Untapable will most likely be the favorite in the 2014 Kentucky Oaks. Don’t expect much return on your bet unless you get creative a play a trifecta.
