Kenny McPeek trained Rosalind in “Good Form” for Kentucky Oaks

Kenny McPeek trained Rosalind in “Good Form” for Kentucky Oaks: Three-year-old Rosalind, who comes out of Landaluce Educe Stables is set to race in the 2014 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on Friday, May 2, 2014. Rosalind sits comfortably in the 6th place position on the Kentucky Oaks leader board with 78 points. The Kenny McPeek trained filly arrived at Churchill Downs Monday and galloped in good form on Tuesday morning with exercise rider Danny Ramsey. Rosalind is scheduled to have one last workout in preparation for the Longines Kentucky Oaks.

Rosalind had a very successful career so far finishing in the money six times out of seven lifetime starts. On September 7, 2013 Rosalind raced in the grade 2 Pocahontas (see Pocahontas recap/replay) at 1 1/16 miles and came in third place behind Untapable and Stonetastic. Then in October 4th of last year, Rosalind ran in the grade 1 Alcibiades at Keeneland race track at 1 1/16 miles and came in second place behind My Conquestadory. In November of last year, Rosalind competed in the grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita Park and came in third place. This year Rosalind was finally able to move up to a first place standing and took home the win on April 5th at the grade 1 Ashland at the Keeneland race track for a distance of 1 1/16 miles but tied the win with Room Service in a dead heat (see Ashland recap/replay).

Rosalind is trained by Kenny McPeek who is responsible for bringing the “Coolest Horse Racing App Ever” to fans. With Tejano Run, McPeek had his best finish in the 1995 Kentucky Derby coming in second place. McPeek also had success at the 2002 Belmont Stakes with horse Sarava taking home the win, which was a long shot on the board with stats at 70-1. McPeek also had some success at Churchill Downs at the 2010 Kentucky Derby with his trained horse Noble’s Promise coming in at 5th place. McPeek has a special talent for purchasing horses and training them to be strong runners, and certainly McPeek would add to his career resume with a good finish for Rosalind at this year’s Kentucky Oaks.

Rosalind was foaled on April 13, 2011 and comes from sire and dam Broken Vow and Critics Acclaim. Rosalind was bred by Hurstland Farm Inc.

Jockey Joel Rosario, who has been aboard Rosalind for her last four races, is slated to team up with the filly in the 2014 Kentucky Oaks.
