Untapable and Rosie Napravnik Win Kentucky Oaks With Ease

Untapable and Rosie Napravnik Win Kentucky Oaks With Ease: The 140th running of the Longines Kentucky Oaks took place on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky and Untapable was unstoppable. The $1,000,000 1 1/8 mile dirt race for three-year-old fillies is considered the sister race to the legendary Kentucky Derby and proved to be just another day at the track for jockey Rosie Napravnik and three-year-old filly Untapable. Trained by Steve Asmussen, the favorite Untapable made winning the Kentucky Oaks look easy for a Churchill Downs crowd of 113,071. See Replay Below

Owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds, Untapable was being compared to the great Rachel Alexandra before the big race and certainly lived up to the high expectations. Untapable was the 4-5 favorite in the 2014 Kentucky Oaks but ended up with even money odds when the the 1 1/8 mile race began. My Miss Sophia finished 2nd, Unbridled Forever 3rd, and Rosalind finished in 4th place.

Empress of Midway was scratched after flipping in the gate. The filly appeared uninjured as she was walked back to the Doug O’Neill barn. There was trouble in the gate for Fashion Plate as well, which resulted in a bad break from the gate and an 11th place finish.

The 2014 Kentucky Oaks was jockey Rosie Napravnik’s second win of the day and her 2nd time winning the Longines Kentucky Oaks. Rosie will team up with Vicar’s In Trouble for the 2014 Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 3, 2014.
