Belmont Stakes Day Underway

Belmont Stakes Day Underway: With the sun shinning brightly on eager fans, the 146th Running of the Belmont Stakes takes place today, Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. With the first Belmont Park race underway on a card of thirteen, the Belmont Park grounds begin to flood with hues of purple and green all to support the potential Triple Crown winner California Chrome.

Co-owner of California Chrome, Steve Coburn, was generous with his time this morning as he patiently autographed California Chrome swag for fans as they screamed and shouted encouraging chants to the humble owner. Steve Coburn signed shirts, hats, and posters for the young and old.

California Chrome, who won the 2014 Kentucky Derby and the 2014 Preakness Stakes will make his way around the 1.5 mile dirt track at approximately 6:52 PM ET with ten talented rivals. Regular rider Victor Espinoza will lead California Chrome across the finish line in hopes of being the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in1977. The dynamic duo will exit the same gate position as Secretariat did in 1973.
