What to do at Delaware Park…

Delaware Handicap 2014

The Delaware Handicap takes place on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Delaware Park and features fillies and mares such as Close Hatches and Princess of Sylmar. The Delaware Handicap is the perfect race to rock your Western inspired fashion to take you from track to dance floor.

Fun giveaways are not the only thing to enjoy at Delaware Park on Delaware Handicap Day. Delaware Park offers a lot of fun things to try out including Legends Restaurant. The restaurant has a Victorian setting and showcases seafood and steak with restaurant specials throughout the month of July. For a more low key dining experience try out Picciotti’s Pizza and craft beer, which also features specials in the month of July; or stay over one night and try out the amazing Sunday brunch buffet at the At the Rail’s Restaurant, which is located on the main level of the clubhouse at the White Clay Creek Country Club.

If you are looking for fun relaxed nightlife, then stay after the Delaware Handicap is over and have fun with your winnings at Hops, which is Delaware Park’s bar; or if you are feeling especially lucky you can try your hand at the Delaware Park Casino, which is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and has a full daily Poker Tournament schedule along with slots and table games. After you’re done enjoying Delaware Park’s amenities hope on over to the DJ Country Line Dance Anniversary Party on Saturday. It will be held at the Hops Bar and will begin at 9:00 pm and go until 1:00 am.

What to wear to Delaware Park…

With a fun day at the 2014 Delaware Handicap and a Country Line Dancing party afterwards it is the perfect time to try out the Western trend, which was seen all over the spring runways this year. This doesn’t mean you have to trade your fascinator for a Stetson, but go ahead and incorporate western influences like fringe, denim, leather, and gingham details. Try a sweet gingham plaid dress from Modcloth (pictured below). It is still elegant and sweet but gives a little nod to the western wear look. You can also try a western tribal print dress for a more bohemian western look that is also fun and quirky. If you want to try a sleeker look for race day then pair a chambray denim shirt with western detailing a bright sleek pencil skirt. Try a fun neutral fascinator with any of these looks to keep the focus on your western wear. If you really want to go with the theme then pair your look with a fun pair of booties inspired by cowboy boots or you can keep it classic with a simple heel. Another great accessory to catch the western trend in to simply carry a bag with fringe. Look to celebs like Olivia Palermo, Camilla Belle, and Kate Bosworth for inspiration on the western trend.

You will be sure to look great and have fun at the 2014 Delaware Handicap and the line dancing party in your fun western wear.
