Ron The Greek Wins 2013 Sunshine Millions Classic

Ron The Greek placed first in the 2013 Sunshine Millions Classic. Mucho Macho Man, who finished last, was the favorite at Gulfstream Park on Saturday. Thankfully, Mucho Macho Man is said to be in good health despite the scare he gave his connections and fans. Ron The Greek went for it and won the race despite the horrible track conditions!

Trainer Bill Mott was said to be laughing in the winner’s circle Saturday after Ron The Greek’s first place win at the Sunshine Millions Classic.

Bill Mott was quoted, “They always say that Wise Dan got beat,” Mott said, joking. “But they never say who beat him. They’re always mentioning that he only got beat once and it was on the dirt. But they forget to say who beat him. I’d like to get a little more P.R. for ol’ Ron. We love Ron.”

As far as the favorite for the Sunshine Millions Mucho Macho Man, Mr. Finn Green, Racing Manager for Reeves Thoroughbred Racing stated on the official Facebook page the following: “At the request of Dean and Patti Reeves I want to provide all of Mucho Macho Man’s Facebook fans with the following information about Mucho Macho Man. Mucho Macho Man Will return to the race track on Monday morning, January 21. He came out of the race yesterday in very good physical condition. Mucho Macho Man Did not like the condition of the race track on Saturday. Thank you for your prayers for and support of Mucho Macho Man. You are a phenomenal group of supporters. My best to you. Finn Green”

If you’re a fan of Lady and The Track you’ll know that Friday’s “Trixie Hammer Picks” had Ron The Greek coming in second place during the Sunshine Millions Classic. Let this be a lesson that I’m not always right. Unfortunately, I didn’t follow my own advice and I placed a bet using my lover’s money on Mucho Macho Man to win. As you know, placing a bet with your lover’s money is simply bad luck! At this point, I’m taking the blame for Mucho Macho Man’s loss and credit for Ron The Greek’s win!
