Juddmonte Spinster Stakes 2014 at Keeneland; Odds & Events

Juddmonte Spinster Stakes 2014 at Keeneland: This weekend will be a busy weekend at Keeneland, with the Shadwell Turf Mile running on Saturday and then the Juddmonte Spinster on Sunday, October 5, 2014. The Juddmonte Spinster is a grade 1 race with a $500,000 purse that will award it’s winner with an automatic entry into the $2,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Distaff on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Santa Anita Park. This year’s edition holds six tough fillies and mares, two of which have Breeders’ Cup experience on their resume already. Close Hatches finished 2nd in the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Distaff and Ria Antonia won the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies.

Who to bet on in the 2014 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes:

Race 9 5:45 PM ET
1 Ria Antonia 10-1 Lopez/Amoss
2 Close Hatches 3-5 Rosario/Mott
3 Got Lucky 15-1 Napravnik/Pletcher
4 Shuruq 5-1 Leparoux/Suroor
5 Don’t Tell Sophia 9-2 Rocco, Jr./Sims
6 Molly Morgan 5-1 Lanerie/Romans
Picks: Close Hatches is our top pick but only because Trixie is in love with her. Close Hatches is a talented filly and we’d like to see her win the Breeders’ Cup Distaff but she’s got her work cut out for her with rivals such as Don’t Tell Sophia.

What to wear to the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes at Keeneland:

For what to wear on Sunday for the Juddmonte Spinster, why not try one of fall’s major trends, menswear inspired shoes. Think oxfords and loafers. This way you will look stylish and be comfortable enough to take a self-guided walking tour of the grounds and be able to stand during the morning training session and make it all the way through the race later in the day. Just make sure to pair your menswear inspired shoes with feminine clothing. You want to give a hint to menswear; you don’t actually want to be dressed as a man. Try cute beige oxford flats or cute oxford inspired blue booties.

If these menswear inspired shoes are just not quite feminine enough for your taste then try some of these more feminine versions, like a great pink cutout lace-ups or heeled black and white oxford lace up booties. Try your menswear inspired shoes with an ultra-feminine fit and flare dress. Polish off your look with a sleek lady like inspired topper and you will be set to enjoy your Sunday at Keeneland!
