Glorious Alliance was born on April 6, 1992 and is currently a 22-year-old alpha mare living only ten minutes away from her owner, author Karen Graninger. Karen describes Miss Glorious Alliance as “a classic Aries woman.”

The human/horse duo has known each other for ten years. Karen fell in love with Glorious Alliance after watching her on the racetrack and now is involved with helping find homes for horses when they reach retirement. Karen revealed, “Glory is an off track race horse. Her first race was at Del Mar, ridden by legendary jockey Eddie Delahoussaye. As soon as I met Glory, I started following racing, studied the horses, wagered a little, and became involved in helping friends rescue off track race horses and find them second careers as jumpers.”

Karen explained that Bedtime Stories From The Pasture was a new adventure for her saying, “Bedtime Stories From the Pasture is the first book I’ve written. My day job is film development. I have a number of screenplays in various stages of development since I left the 20th Century Fox lot where I used to work for News Corp.”

The inspiration to write the book came directly from spending time around the animals, Karen explained, “Glory and her pasture are a small corner of paradise in this world. The horses and other animals who visit, teach basic life lessons about trust, love, respect and leadership provided humans listen.”

Karen also confirmed that some elements of the book are true. In the chapter “He Who Moves Like A Rock Star” a horse and a pony playfully slingshot dates to one another. Karen confirmed to us that the animals really do slingshot dates, but she has “yet to see them catch one in their mouths!”

Bedtime Stories From The Pasture would make a wonderful holiday gift for many people on your list this season. Karen suggested, “It appeals to parents and others reading to kids, those searching for a short, magical story to put them to bed, and obviously horse lovers.”

Miss Glorious Alliance loves children herself and Bedtime Stories From The Pasture is a wonderful treat for little ones learning to read. Even though Glorious Alliance is the “alpha mare” Karen stated that she loves kids saying, “Glory adores when little kids put their hands on her and hug her legs. She’s enthralled with human babies and enjoys tickling their tummies with her muzzle. She’ll nicker when they laugh.”

Lady and The Track team member Trixie Hammer enjoyed Bedtime Stories From The Pasture immensely and recommends the book saying, “I had a wonderful time reading the short stories to my 4-year-old son. He was captivated by all of the characters including the two romantic snakes in love and the sneaky young kitten that finally stood her ground. I personally enjoyed the lessons brought to life by Glorious Alliance. Regardless if you have children or not, the book will satisfy any animal lover out there!”
