Belmont Stakes Travel Tips; Beach, Shop, Wine, Golf: There are plenty of hot spots to visits and things to do while you are in Elmont, New York and Long Island for the Belmont Stakes. Of course the Belmont Stakes will be the main event on Saturday, June 7th but there is no reason why you can’t make a whole fun weekend of it and experience all that Long Island has to offer. Of course you can always drive into the city for a great time, but why not stay put and see what local things have to offer.

Visit some of the beautiful vineyards or go on a fun wine tasting and purchase some local wines during your visit to the 2014 Belmont Stakes in New York.

Of course Long Island has a rich sea life with the surrounding beach and plenty of nautical influences. The beaches offer beautiful and pristine soft white sand. If you are looking for good surfing then head down to Montauk for bigger waves; however, if you want a more relaxed setting and want to check out the beautiful scenery then try out Long Beach, you can even bicycle down the boardwalk at Long Beach, which covers more than two miles.You can also check out Jones Beach and see if any events are going on. Jones Beach often houses small concerts at The Bay Stage and fireworks. To see and be seen try out Main Beach which is located in the famous Hamptons area, where many of the rich and famous hang out.

If you want a break from the beach then why not take a wine tour in Long Island Wine Country. Visit some of the beautiful vineyards or go on a fun wine tasting and purchase some local wines. If you’re looking for fine dining and great shopping and to mingle with the stars, then again, try out the Hamptons. They have more to offer than just great beaches. You can shop, eat, and even tour some of the beautiful mansions.

Long Island also offers some wonderful golfing on beautiful courses. Try out one of the Bethpage State Park Golf Courses which houses some private and public golf courses.

Whatever you choose to do during your 2014 Belmont Stakes visit, you will have a great stay in New York, whether you are relaxing at the beach, shopping or teeing off!
