Onlyforyou Remains Undefeated after Winning the 2014 Davona Dale Stakes: The 2014 Davona Dale Stakes was held at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, February 22, 2014. It is a grade 2 race at 1 1/16 miles with a $200,00 purse. The Davona Dale is on the track towards the Kentucky Oaks trail. Onlyforyou took the win at the Davona Dale leaving herself undefeated.

Onlyforyou is a 3-year-old filly trained by Todd Pletcher and was ridden by jockey Javier Castellano. The final running time was 1:43.71. Onlyforyou beat out House Rules, who came in second place and Aurelia’s Belle who rounded out the top three coming in third place. Onlyforyou broke from the gate taking an early lead and never really gave up her lead, taking the win.

Castellano said, “I had a beautiful trip…She really blew out of the gate. My only concern was two turns and, she responded today. IT was a great effort the way she did it. She set strong fractions at the beginning of the race and she was under pressure the whole race. She handled it so well.”

House Rules tried to keep a close pace, but was unable to advance past Onlyforyou.

Trainer Pletcher said of Onlyforyou “She’s got natural speed and we don’t want to take that away from her. We let her break and see how she got to the first turn. She luckily broke well after misbehaving in the gate a little bit and was able to get to the position we wanted. The five filly (House Rules) ran a big race and put some pressure on her down the backside and she was able to keep finding a little more.”

The Davona Dale gave Onlyforyou 50 points towards a start in the Oaks Derby. Second place winner House Rules picked up 20 points and Aurelia’s Belle gained 10.
