Arlington Million 2014; Best Dressed Lady: The 32^nd running of the Arlington Million is set to take place this Saturday, August 16, 2014. The 2014 G1 1 1/4 mile turf Arlington Million will take place at Arlington International and it is one of the biggest racing events of the summer season and certainly the biggest day of racing in Illinois. What to do on Arlington Million Day…

There are many events taking place on Arlington Million Day to partake in. One great option is the Million Party Zone Ticket Package. The cost is $53.66 per person and patrons must be 21 years or older to attend. The privileges include 4.5 Hour Beer & Wine Bar from 12:15 PM-4:45 PM. You can also partake of the chef’s table from 12:15 PM-3:15 PM, which will include delicious dishes such as apple slaw, loaded macaroni salad, kettle chips, smoke house sausage, pulled pork sandwiches, white cheddar mac and cheese, and cookies.  The live band 7th Heaven will be performing.  Your ticket will also include a daily racing guide and a fun photo booth and the first 500 guests to check in at the Million Party Zone will receive a gold carnation, which is the official flower of the Arlington Million. Tickets are available for purchase through Thursday August 14, 2014 at 12:30 PM at the Arlington Park website.

There are other opportunities for fun even if you do not purchase a Million Party Zone ticket. Race goers can enter to win the Fast Bet Mobile Ultimate Bet Challenge, where you can win a chance to bet $3000 on one horse in the Arlington Million to win. There will also be a giveaway of official 2014 Arlington Million Glass to the first 750 guests that come through the Admission Gates.

The opening ceremonies of Million Day will include a performance by the Jesse White Tumblers and singer Johnny Vincent.  The National Anthem will be sung by legendary singer Jim Cornelison and colors will be presented by Marine Air Control Group-48. There will also be food and beverage specials including Million Mary and Millionaire Tea and ticketed dining packages throughout the park.  Fans 18 years or older can also create their own personalized painting on a public mural.

There are all inclusive Arlington Million Packages available which include the Million VIP Lounge, which include open bar and a special Million Day menu. There is also The Million Room, where patrons can enjoy the Million Room Buffet. For an upscale experience with a specialty Chef’s Table try Skills at 2200, and there are also Marquee Tents open for a more casual experience.

For the ladies on Arlington Million Day there is the Arlington Million Best Dressed Lady Competition. At 10:45 am invites will be handed out to the stylish ladies on track and the contest will be near the Champagne Tent on the paddock beginning at 1:25 pm.  The top 20 contestants will be chosen by a panel of judges. The top 20 will be invited for a champagne toast host by Valor Ladies in the Champagne Tent. All participants will be given a gift bag from Fashion at the Races, which will include race day and fashionable treats. What to wear on Arlington Million Day…

With the fashion competition going on you will want to look your best so it is time to break out your best party dress. Party dresses come in variety of shapes and styles, but they all have something special that makes them standout. This could be tulle, or a detailed collar or a fun shape, but they are definitely not your average everyday sundress. Just make sure you do not go too far and wear an evening only look. Keep the hem calf length and above, and again, make sure there is some sort of special detail that makes your party dress unique.

My fashion picks for the 2014 Arlington Million are the gold sparkly dress (pictured below), just make sure to avoid black accessories and go with nude or metallic or even a bright color so that the look does not read evening wear. The sheer polka dot dress is also an extra special choice that is sure to stand out. The bright red and unique lace stripes on the dress (pictured below) are also a unique fashion forward option.

If you would rather opt for separates, than a statement making skirt is a good option as well. Try a flared red skirt or bright pink skirt.

Make sure to pair your outfit with fun shoes as well. The Arlington Million and Best Dressed Lady Competition is not the time to be shy and wear a traditional peep toe. Stand out in a pair of tie strap shoes. Try fun strappy heeled sandals, just make sure to wear them in nude to tone down the statement shoe; you don’t want to go overboard. You could also try the sweet strappy bow Betsy Johnson sandals.

Make sure to keep your standout look going with a statement making hat as well. The black feather headband makes a statement but won’t compete with your outfit. For the daring fashion girl try a unique origami inspired fascinator.
