Union Rags 2012 Kentucky Derby
Union Rags has regained his spot in the top ten 2012 Kentucky Derby favorites. Union Rags begins his Run For The Roses with four victories in six starts, which includes the Fountain of Youth in February and the Champagne Run last October.
Despite his loss at the 2012 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park, three-year-old Union Rags is a strong contender in the 2012 Kentucky Derby. Jockey Julien Leparoux was blamed for the loss at the Florida Derby because Union Rags was pinned up against the rail and didn’t escape until it was too late. The jockey received much criticism after the race and later tweeted, “to all the ones
that says [sic] that I sucked, I will prove you wrong.” The 28-year-old Frenchman also stated he was discouraged. “I’m discouraged in myself, yes. But not in the horse.” Julien Leparoux has established himself as one of the top jockeys in the entire world.
Union Rags is said to have brought something spectacular to the last few prep races. He is still a deserving favorite for the 2012 Kentucky Derby. Lady And The Track would like to wish jockey Julien Leparoux, Trainer Michael Matz, owner Phyllis Wyeth of the Chadds Ford Stable, and the resilient Union Rags the best of luck in the 2012 Kentucky Derby.
