It is the second jewel of the Triple Crown. Baltimore hosts some great places to stay with plenty of amenities.
For true classic luxury try the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore during your visit to attend the 2014 Preakness Stakes. This hotel is on the shoreline and has amazing water front views. This hotel is located close to Harbor East, which is an up and coming hip new district. It is surrounded by fine dining and great shopping. You can easily walk around the surrounding neighborhood. There is fine dining on site and an indoor pool so you can swim even if it is chilly out and even a great spa facility for some good ole’ R&R.
Hotel Monaco Baltimore is another luxurious place you can stay for the 139th running of the Preakness Stakes. It is a Kimpton Hotel and it is in the famous Baltimore and Ohio Railroad headquarters. IT is surrounded by rich history and has a grandiose historic feel. Each room is filled with fine art and the grounds have beautiful architecture and Old-world glamour. Although it boasts all the amenities for a fine luxury hotel like a spa and fitness center, it is also kid and pet friendly; there are even on site kid programs. So you can pack up the whole family and make a family vacation out of your Preakness Stakes weekend.
If you want to get a little further out and really feel like you are on a getaway try out the Inn at Perry Cabin. It is a little bit more of a drive as it is located in Victorian St. Michaels, Maryland, but there is plenty to do. It is a waterfront estate, serving three meals a day and housing the award winning Linden Spa. You may want to stay in bed all day at this luxury get away, but by all means you will want to get out and enjoy many of their adventurous outdoor amenities including boating, kayaking, sailing, crabbing, fishing and more relaxed garden tours.
If you are looking for places a little closer to the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course and a little less expensive then you still have some great options including the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront and the Hyatt Regency Baltimore or the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel. Any of these three places will also help you get that getaway vacation feel as well, with plenty of amenities to boast for at slightly lower price points. Wherever you chose to stay, you will surely have a wonderful race day experience.
