California Chrome Looks Good for Breeders’ Cup Classic 2014 (Santa Anita Press Release by Ed Golden: Private clocker Gary Young likes what he sees from California Chrome as the Kentucky Derby winner cranks up for Saturday’s $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic, which could decide both Horse of the Year and male 3-year-old champion of 2014.

“It looks like there’s going to be some pace,” Young said of the field of 15, including one also-eligible.

“California Chrome’s coat looks good, and to tell you the truth, he’s moving better than I’ve ever seen him, since the (Kentucky) Derby.

“He’s moving very freely behind and the post (13) will help him. Shared Belief and Tonalist also drew well. Tonalist (who drew post position 11) will try to beat four or five of them into the turn and not lose too much ground around there.”

Asked his best bet on the two-day Breeders’ Cup card comprised of 13 races worth $26 million, Young offered the Kelly Breen-trained Stonetastic in the $1 million DraftKings Filly & Mare Sprint at seven furlongs on Saturday. “I think she’s going to run well,” he said.

The Breeders’ Cup Classic is the 12th race of the day on Saturday, November 1, 2014 and is scheduled for 5:35 PM PT. A live stream of all thirteen Breeders’ Cup races will be available at BreedersCup.com.
